I have already downloaded Firefox 17.0, but the " Download the new Firefox 17 "keeps appearing -how delete?
I had the " Download the new Firefox" appear when I got into my Mozilla Firefox site. I then downloaded the new Firefox 17.0, but the " Download the new Firefox" keeps appearing whenever I go into the site, and it is damned irritating. How do I prevent this from appearing any more?

Firefox 17.0.1 was released a few weeks ago, you have 17.0 installed. Updating Firefox is in order.
The Firefox download box that keeps coming up is for 17.0 ( optimized for yahoo), it is not for Firefox 17.0.1 I have already downloaded the version 17.0
If 17.0.1 is the latest version which is optimized for Yahoo, why doesn't the box suggesting I download Firefox, indicate that it is the latest Version, 17.0.1 ?
Sounds like you installed a non-genuine Yahoo version of Firefox. Mozilla doesn't supply that optimized by Yahoo version.
Try using Help > About Firefox to trigger the update.
