We are logging on to a site that we need in order to do business but we are having issues. Initially we were getting a shield next to the back button. We would try to click the shield and disable but the page would still repeatedly reload. I did a little digging and with to about:config and disabled the mixed content security options. This removed the shield but the page still refreshed rapidly (100+x a minute). To get to the page I needed, I needed to log in, then on the next page click a button. Once on that page there were no issues. The page after logging in is where the refreshing was happening. There was a security window that came up near the back button. after clicking on it it told me that the connection is partially encrypted. Another window also told me that this website does not supply ownership info and it was verified by Not Specified. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF. What should my next steps be.

Hi Jazee,

Thank you for your question. Since you have already tried uninstalling and re in stalling however finding out why the page after logging in is redirecting and refreshing multiple times.

One way to find out a little more information about why this is happening is taking a look at the HTTP traffic when you log in through the encryption page. Here there can be more logging information.

To do this:

  1. Open up the Tools menu
  2. Open up Web Developer Tools and Network
  3. Reproduce the steps you are taking

In the traffic there will be a message at the time that you load the encrypted page and there will be some information about the type of encryption and a number with 300 400 500 or 200, this will give a hint to why the server is reloading the page. Maybe you will see an error message. If you post back with what these are this will provide a better hint of what can be done to get that working.

We are looking forward to your reply.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
