All of a sudden FF 26.0 and 27.0 on a W7/64 platform are forgetting cookies. On other platforms ( VISTA/32 & XP/32) FF still keeps the cookies OK. Privacy Settings are: Accept Cookies, Accept 3rd Party Cookies Always, and Keep Until they Expire. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Using SAFE MODE had no effect on the problem. However, after doing a RESET the problem cleared. After doing the RESET I no longer had the option of specifying how cookies would be handled, just a "remember history" radio button. It is interesting that this problem only appeared on 1 gateway W7/64 laptop. A second gateway W7/64 running first FF26.0 and then FF27.0 did not exhibit the problem with cookies being forgotten .. nor did two VISTA Home Premium/32 systems, two XP Pro/32 SP3+ systems, or one XP Home/32 SP3+ system. The affected system is a Gateway NE56R laptop.

Hello,

Can you please confirm if you are seeing this issue when you open Firefox in safe mode (instructions below). The reason for this request is to see if there is a plugin that might be interfering with the functionality. I use Firefox on a Windows 7/64-bit machine and I am noticing this issue. Hence the request.

Thank you

Instructions to open Firefox in Safe Mode Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).

(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item:
FirefoxSafeMode

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

To see all History and Cookie settings, choose:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
