i get this for facebook and
Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.google.co.in.
Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
this for all google websites, like gmail, youtube, etc..
but i can open yahoo, and other websites!! i have tried that ssl connection that was suggested in one of the FAQs but the problem was that: security.enable_ssl3 and security.enable_tls, both did not show up in about:config search results. and yes, my proxy settings are also fine. what to do next?

Hello padmagiri
- security.tls.version.min
- security.tls.version.max
replace the deprecated security.enable_ssl3 and security.enable_tls boolean settings, and that's why you can not see it in about:config any more.
see : http://kb.mozillazine.org/Security.tls.version.*
the article : Enable SSL to fix the Firefox cannot connect securely error message need update (we are working on it)
definitely see jscher2000's reply for more information in the next link:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if this helps.
There are other things that need your attention:
Your System Details List shows multiple Flash plugins.
- Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0
- Shockwave Flash 11.3 r300
- Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202
You can find the installation path of all plugins on the about:plugins page.
You can check the Flash player installation folder for multiple Flash player plugins and remove all (older) version(s) of the plugin (NPSWF32) and (re)install the latest Flash player.
