hello JoAnnW, the site you have referenced [http://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.html#hostname=https://ucard.chase.com doesn't properly implement a certificate chain] that links their certificate issued from a intermediary instance to the root certificate authority trusted by the browser. this doesn't mean that the site or the encryption is generally unsafe. you can visit https://www.symantec.com/page.jsp?id=ca-ra once - that should be enough to store this intermediary certificate used by the bank in the certificate store of the browser.
