I am running FireFox 29.0.1 on a 64 bit windows 8 samsung. When I visit a site in private browsing mode, the site then appears in my normal firefox new tab page under visited sites. Why? I thought using Private Browsing Mode was supposed to keep information from being stored on my computer. I also have FireFox set to never remember my history and to tell sites i do not want to be tacked.

Thanks

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
