I had the two that came with Thunderbird and I imported a new address book via .csv . It was all good until somehow I closed that address book and the other two are gone. What could have happened or how can I get those back?

Chosen solution

The two default address books in Thunderbird are the Personal and the Collected books. Neither of these can be deleted so I have to guess that you turned off the Directory Pane in the address book window somehow and just cannot see them.

Open the address book window. From the menu bar select View-Layout-Directory Pane

If you do not have a menu bar showing in the address book book window press the alt key to make it appear.
