Is there a way to not drag the MailTo: part of the email address when drag and drop from incoming to outgoing

When I get an incoming email and want to open a new message and then drag the email address to the TO: area it adds the 'Mailto:' in front of the email address. If this stays there then the email gets returned. Is there a way to not have this included?

right click the address and select copy and paste it where you want it. Or you might try the Compose message to option on the same menu.

Then there is the reply button.
