Any time I try to view a YouTube video, the video stops playing and the buffer symbol shows, but the audio keeps going. Flash is fully up to date and it does this with the HTML5 player as well. It only stops when I end the FireFox process, not when I just close the window. Is there a known fix for this?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.
