I just downloaded Firefox 33 for windows 7. The new install opens as a black screen with semi-transparent blue band at the top (you can see the other open program window through the blue). I don't have any other browser on the computer so web access is cut off. Does anyone have suggestions I could try for fixing this?

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Currently in version 33, Firefox has implemented a new, faster way of loading webpages. This new feature is called OMTC. However, there are still some tweaks Mozilla developers are making to this.

There is a known issue that Mozilla works on very hard to fix: if you are experiencing black webpages on some sites, here's what you can do to avoid the problem in the meantime:

Other users with this problem had an embedded intel hd graphics card with an old driver present. Please select the appropriate driver below: Intel HD 2000/3000: 32bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23763 64bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764

Intel HD 4000: 32bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24328 64bit https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329

If updating your driver doesn't work, or is not applicable to you, try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. If the problem no longer happens in Safe Mode, please turn off hardware acceleration and then restart Firefox normally.

Please let us know if this solves the problem. Engineering is also gathering more information about the issue would request that you fill out this survey

Thank you!
