I cannot choose a downloads folder and am unable to download an image from google.
I have an older windows machine that is running Windows XP. (7-8 year old machine) I cannot choose a downloads folder and am unable to download an image from google. When I right-click an image (that I found on Google) and try to save it in a folder, nothing happens. I have firefox options set to ask me where I want to save the file. But firefox does not ask me where I want to save it. The file does not end up in downloads either. There is nothing there. I am unable to browse to another folder. I cannot upload files either. This is a recent problem. A couple of days ago, I downloaded and installed VCL onto my computer in order to be able to listen to some music files from my music group. (the files had a .mov extension as they were made en a mac). While dowloading, there was some sort of message about the monitoring of how I dowload files, but I did not pay attention to it. In the process of downloading another program semi-installed itself too (some sort of optimizing program). That is when I started to be unable to download and upload images. I uninstalled both VCL and the other program. I tried all your suggestions about fixing my downloading problem but nothing works. HELP!

hello Christine, first please run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that there were no other unwanted programs installed with this bundled download.
