Firefox not responding. Have done all troubleshooting but still not working. It won't even open now. Help please.
Can anyone help please? I've tried everything suggested in the troubleshooting, have even uninstalled and re-installed it but it still isn't working. It was fine last week but now it won't even open. Even when I start it in safe mode it won't stay open for long and just goes back to the screen that says there's a problem and gives the option to re-start it or quit it but if I click on re-start, it doesn't work. I haven't added anything or changed anything, so can't understand why it's been working fine for years an now won't work at all. I don't know what plugins I have installed as I can't get in long enough to find out. Any suggestions or help will be much appreciated, as I really don't want to use any other search engine. Thanks.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
- Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
- Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select Network. Look for Configure How Firefox Connects and press the Settings button. Check the settings.

Thank you so much for your reply FredMcD & finitarry. I had already gone through the things you mentioned without it helping any.
Strange thing is, I clicked on it again this morning, as I do every day, just to check that's it's still not working and guess what... it opened up and worked as if there had been nothing wrong in the first place!!
So still have no idea why it stopped working and wouldn't even open but now, for another reason I don't know, it's working again!! Curiouser and curiouser!! Thank you both for replying though, in a different scenario it could have helped. Appreciated.
Might have been a bad file got removed, or an update. Well, Good luck.
