My power went off this morning, and when I turned my computer on after the power came on, I cannot open my email, because there is an error message "Cannot find Mozilla Runtime"

What is this about...and can you fix it ?

thanks MelissaCW

What OS are you using and what version of Thunderbird?

Windows 2003 and the email is called Lanakai 3.1 I wish I could tell you more about the email/Thunderbird, but nothing comes up when I click the email icon except the error message.

Windows 2003? Really? You must have composed that yourself. There was Win 2000 15 years ago. I hope you are not still trying to run that. If so Thunderbird crashing is the least of your worries.

I closed https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1055351 in favor of this discussion. Please one Question one thread. More just confuses the issue and wastes volunteers time.

I suggest you install a release version of Thunderbird say Version 31.5. Version 38 will be released before mid year.

Point 1. Lanakai was never a release version. It was a development and testing release before Version 3.1 was released.

Point 2. Reinstalling will probably fix the issue.

My intention was certainly NOT to "waste your time". My time has been wasted this week due to the email crash for which I have been trying to get help for 3 days. I don't appreciate being reprimanded for asking for help. Yours is the first helpful reply I have received, and it came with a reprimand.

I was asked to clarify my original request. If you think my response to that wastes your time, then I offer my apologies.

I will apply your suggestion and attempt to reinstall but I am not hopeful.

Because of this very frustrating and prolonged experience which has resulted in the loss of all my emails and some very important folders I will not be using Mozilla in the future.

Thank you for your valuable time.

Personally I have no interest in what mail client you use. I volunteer here because I beleive in Thunderbird. But as a moderator I must ask people to not post and post multiple threads on the same topic. You tell me it is a reprimand. How do you propose I get that message across?

I spent more time moderating (closing threads and cross linking them) than I did on replying to you. Someone else misses out on an answer, it is than simple. So if I am uncompromising, it is for than reason.
