I keep getting "error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)" -This Connection Is Untrusted on google.com, why? Google should be safe, right? This happened after I got Kapersky Internet Security 2015 ( I have firefox 37 & windows 7), but it seems to be more of a firefox issue? I was going to google a solution, but you know.... :)

This happens when Kapersky doesn't install its certificate correctly. You will need to do the following:

  • enable displaying hidden files on your computer (instructions)
  • Find the kapersky certificate (this should be a .cer file, according to this forum post it's in the C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky Lab\AVP15.0.1\Data\Cert\ folder)
  • install the certificate in firefox. In the address bar, type "about:preferences#advanced", and choose the "certificates" tab. Choose "view certificates", then the "authorities" tab, and then "import". Find the kapersky certificate, and then import it.
