Hi, open Options (cog wheel) - in the 3-bar menu unless you've moved it, > General tab, and set 'When Firefox starts:' to Show my home page (or Show a blank page, if you prefer). There is more here - How to set the home page.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

You can set the browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab pref to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open. That allows to close all open open before closing Firefox.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
