I go to a site and do a search for an mp3. A new window opens and I get a voice recording telling me I have a virus and that I need to call this number 1-855-232-1535 and I will be given instructions on how to remove the virus or my personal information might be compromised.. My Anti-virus program does not find any virus nor does my malware program. Is this a legitimate warning and number (I called it and got someone who wouldn't tell me just who's tech support she represented and was obviously in India/Pakistan probably and a also obviously in a phone room). Any feedback would be appreciated.nI run windows xp service pack 4 and FireFox 38

Hi, probably the website it is a phishing site, forge it if you check for virus and you are clean, if you want to check more then, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Thank you for th quick response. I figured that is probably what it is or something like it. That pretty well confirms my guess. Thanks you also for the list of software. I have a good antivirus program, but the list is still appreciated.

. Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery
