I am trying to find a confirmation number from a payment I made for an account. After the payment was made I shut my laptop lid and was unable to write it down. My husband opened it up later and logged off my username, now the company shows no payment was made. I have been trying to pull up my history on Firefox but the only history search it is offering me is from two months ago?

Hello

sorry to hear about this.

Walk with me as we troubleshoot this.

Check if your machine is set to Automatically clear the cache

You can disable Firefox to automatically clear the cache when Firefox closes:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose Preferences.
  • Select the Privacy panel.
  • In the History section, set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.
  • Select the check box for Clear history when Firefox closes.
  • Beside Clear history when Firefox closes, click the Settings… button. The Settings for Clearing History window will open.
  • In the Settings for Clearing History window, remove check mark next to Cache.
  • Click OK to close the Settings for Clearing History window.
  • Close the about:preferences page. Any changes you've made will automatically be saved.

Tip: There are several add-ons available that will allow you to clear cache using an icon on your toolbar. Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page to do a search.

Can you clarify what is meant with : logged off my username?

Is that about a Mac user account or being logged on to a website?

Don't you see any recent history in the Bookmarks/History Manager (Library)?

You should switch to offline mode before checking any history items because if you click an history item and open it then Firefox will load a new copy from the server.
