Switching from MT-Newswatcher to TB. Is there a way for all posts marked as read and archived, erased? I want to see only new articles when I come back.

I am running NT-Newswatcher on my 10.8.5 Macbook Pro for Usenet and it will no longer work with the newer OS. I like NT-W because I exit newsgroups, iit marks all a read and then erased them or whatever it does automatically. I have found on TB a way to mark all as read, but the old posts remain cluttering things up. Is there (1) a way to automate the function so when I leave TB or the particular group their are marked as read and taken away or (2) a way to do it by hand, so to speak? Thanks.
