This has been driving me nuts. In both Firefox 38 and 39, the accel keys (shortcuts) in the Options panel are useless.

I recorded my screen and made a couple gifs demonstrating this:

New behavior in Firefox 38 and up— http://i.imgur.com/aAtr5dP.gif

Original behavior in Firefox 37— http://i.imgur.com/IImfqnP.gif

Is this a fluke, or is it a permanent move towards a more mobile-esque GUI? I'm hoping it's the former…

The currently used Options/Preferences page (about:preferences) that opens in a tab behaves like a web page and thus requires to use "Alt + Space + <access key>" like posted above just like you would have to use on a web page.

Note that you can resize various pop-up windows like you get for cookies and passwords if you place the mouse pointer in the bottom right corner.

Thanks to you both, philipp and cor-el. Much appreciated! :)
