i access my Yahoo email thru Firefox and I cant get rid of the banner ad at the beginning of my email

on my previous computer, I did not get ads when I accessed my email. Now, I get what looks like a new email but its really an ad. I thought the Firefox pop-up blocker would eliminate this. Also, I get ads on the right side of the email page.
