firefox 43.0.04 on my vista machine can no longer connect to a site

more options

I have been able to access https://malwarebytes.org in the past - I may return to firefox 43.0.1 as a double check - if that fails a previous version - 42 perhaps - but on my vista machine both firefox and IE fail to connect to that site.

I have the same firefox version on my win 10 laptop and I can access the site there. Other than firefox on vista - I can't think why this is so although I recently talked about firefox since Jan 6 not allowing to directly download the current version of firefox beyond 43.0.1 and I wonder if perhaps something about firefox and vista is causing this problem as well.

A change to my browser version SHOULD NEVER AFFECT OTHER SOFTWARE ON MY COMPUTER. To set up such blocks is THE POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE IMAGINABLE.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of. And since IE is blocked too, that almost rules out a 'fault' with Firefox.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, but since MalwareBytes is blocked on that affected PC you will need to download the necessary anti-malware application from the computer that does have access to the MalwareBytes website; other anti-malware sources may be blocked, too.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.
