Migrating Thunderbird email folders to new computer unclear
I need to move my thunderbird email folders to new computer but the instructions in Thunderbird are not very clear. I do not see any corresponding folders in gmail when I log onto gmail account. What am I missing here?

Are these are the instructions you refer to? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer When you create folders on Thunderbird within your Gmail account (step 4) you need to make sure that they are subscribed to corresponding folders on the Gmail server. In the list of accounts in the account pane (shown in the image on that page) right click on the name of the account and select 'subscribe'. Ensure that all the folders you want to synchronise with your Gmail account are ticked. I think you may then have to click 'refresh', or restart Thunderbird, before you proceed. You could also log in to your Gmail account via webmail, create the necessary folders there, and then get Thunderbird to subscribe to them. Once you have the subscription working, everything that you place in those folders within Thunderbird should be in your Gmail account when you log in to it via webmail.

Thank you for the reply. This is the first time I have seen this particular instruction regarding "subscribe". So now I guess I'll try to see if I can get that to work with a couple of folders in Thunderbird.
By chance, do you know the directory path on the hard drive that the Thunderbird folders would be located. I knew the OUTLOOK EXPRESS paths and was able to do a lot with those when I changed computers a few years ago. If I can find where the TB folders are located it would really be simple to move them over.

There is no simple absolute answer because it is different on the three platforms and it embeds your user name.
In windows, %appdata% copied into windows explorer should get you close. ~/.thunderbird in linux.
In any system, go to Help|Troubleshooting Information and click on the button next to "Profile Directory" and you'll be taken to your profile.
