New installation of Thunderbird 38.5 - totally screwed up all my existing templates.

I had some 70 or so templates between six e-Mail accounts that Thunderbird accesses. Version 38.5 installed, and it appeared that the templates still existed. Except when I try to use them [those I've tried so far, about 50 of them], The template addressee listing falls off, the template subject line falls off, and the template opening paragraph disappears. Meantime, some stray line about "x-mozilla" with the date and time [I think} the new installation was done shows up about three lines below where I would be adding to my messages. No fun having to recreate all my templates.

right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button to rebuild the index for the folder. Does that make it better?

Note here that the update is to the program and add-ons, it does not touch the data in your mail folders and templates are just more mail at the lowest level.
