I cannot get Hello to work. It does not prompt to access camera and mic. When I follow the directions to grant permissions, the permission bar is greyed and I cannot change it. When I go into "more" info and pull up the full settings, changing those two options in permissions to "Always Ask" does noting either.

I have not found any information about how to make the permissions switch active. If it is not, then there is no way to grant or deny permissions and it is "stuck" in "deny" apparently.

I am using 45.0.1 on a windows 10 machine.

I am totally stuck

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
