cant loadXPCOM. when I try to open the program.
I have been having problems with win 8 and wont upgrade to 8.1 and ms is been in trying to get it to and did a restore point a few days back now I get a message that it cant load XPCOM, what is it as it is not a program file or extension file or anything in the program as I went in the property location and checked and I cant open thunderbird. HOPE I did NOT loose my thunderbird e mails! One of the reasons I did not want to change the os to win 8.1 or to win 10 was because of this! I wanted to back up migrate my e-mails or something before I did anything. I did get my files onto a external drive but no other things other than address book. HELP PS VISUALLY IMPAIRED so it is hard forgive me not good at this

Suggest: Reinstall Thunderbird. This is a common error after performing a windows system restore because this restores some mozilla files necessary for proper operations to a prior version, but not all of them!
The Thunderbird program is not in the same place as your Thunderbird profile which contains emails. So, uninstalling and reinstalling should not effect emails. However, I would always advise making a backup if you do not have a recent one.
How to create a backup info:
How to uninstall:
- Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
- select 'Mozilla Thunderbird' in list
- click on uninstall
How to install: Download Thunderbird for windows from this link - choosing the language version you prefer.
