The search bar disappeared. How do I get it back?
The search bar to the right of the address bar disappeared while double clicking. The need to double click began after the last software update. It has been a nuisance and now caused loss of search bar.
Chosen solution
You can get the search bar back like this:
-open the menu (the button with three horizontal lines) -choose "customize" -click and drag the search bar back to it's proper place -click "exit customize"
When exactly do you need to double click, btw?

Thank you for the correction. That worked.
Also, thank you for asking about the double click/drop down menu mouse issue.
You know how sometimes when you go to the mechanic, the car does not present the problem?
This is happening right now.
I think I will restart and see if it reappears.
Ummm....weird.
The annoying mouse issue seems to be resolved.
Again. Thank you so much!
Have an über beautiful day!
The mouse issue started upon opening a new window for Firefox before the internet had a chance to be engaged. If there is a way to include a screen shot, I could show you.
After the internet caught up with Firefox, the mouse issue improved by needing to double click rather than having a drop down menu. Makes sense?
Using Mac FF 50.0.2. Search bar disappeared after update.
Tried the above solution, but the search bar option is not available (or obvious) in the customize window.
I can get it back by "return to defaults" but then I lose other functions that do not appear in the menu (like "show download progress")
Suggestions for getting the search bar bacK? Thank you.
Note that you may have accidentally removed button(s) including the search bar from the Navigation Toolbar.
If you right-click a toolbar item in normal (non-customize) mode then you can remove this item from the toolbar.
- "Remove from Toolbar" will remove this item from the Navigation Toolbar and moves it to the Customize palette ("3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize)
- "Move to Menu" will move this item to the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list
- "Move to Toolbar" in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list will move this item to the toolbar
