First, i didn't have Javascript. There was a warning about it and i disenabled it after the Firefox warning. That was a few years back. One day i watched videos and subscribed to members and the next day nothing. July 23, 2016 weekend Youtube stopped working.

Second, i downloaded the latest Java and that did not work. i uninstalled it, then re-installed it. Twice. i uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. Twice. Nothing seemed to work.

Third, i downloaded Safari and Youtube videos and dashboard worked. i used Chrome, as well. Both browsers worked and i watched youtube videos and my dashboard was available.

Please advise. Thank You, rpod

Hi rpod,

It sounds like the Adobe Flash Player was disabled and it never asks if you want to activate it when viewing youtube videos.

Try to revisit the settings after clearing the cache and cookies.

  1. Clear cookies and site data in Firefox
  2. Disable Flash by going to about:addons and clicking on the Adobe Flash Player to change the settings to "Never Activate"

After refreshing the youtube page and these instructions, do the videos play?

YouTube doesn't use the Java plugin. Also, JavaScript, despite the confusing name, is not related to the Java plugin, it's a widely using scripting language that browsers all handle internally without a plugin. So you can disable Java.

By default, YouTube uses an "HTML5" video player instead of Flash. To test whether that will work on your Firefox, please visit the following page and see what is blue and what is red. Normally on Windows 10, you get 5 blue boxes, with the last box red. What do you get?
