Did you try safemode, and did you look at the linked help article about recovering bookmarks ? What did you discover.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Hi rodnogoodnick,

Please check to see if there is a folder called "Old Firefox Data" on the desktop of your computer. The profile data will be stored in there. Or if you have a back up of the profile folder you may be able to restore it to a previous version. Look for the places.sqlite file.

Hi rodnogoodnick, check out FredMcD's links, they show how to open up the profile folders. Go up a few folders in hiearchy and you should see a few profile folders.

Are you on a guest account on the Windows machine?

Sorry I am not sure what worked and did not work.

You mentioned bookmarks were missing, do they come back when you use Firefox in its safe mode ?

What addon bar are you asking about ? You did not provide details of your Firefox Extensions when you posted this question. When you use Firefox's safemode the extensions are temporarily disabled.

When you say bookmarks are missing are they only missing from maybe the bookmarks toolbar or are all bookmarks missing. Try opening the bookmarks library with keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+B . Do you see any of your bookmarks when you navigate within or search within the bookmarks library, or have all your added bookmarks disappeared (Other than in safemode)
