Some parts of about:config don't seem to work after the latest update: from what I've seen both browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete and xpinstall.signatures.required don't seem to do anything after changing their value. Is there anything I can do to fix that?

Starting with Firefox version 48, the add-on signing requirement will be enforced with no override in Release and Beta versions of Firefox. See the MozillaWiki article, Add-ons/Extension Signing for more information.

Whats the point of fading out the xpinstall.signatures.required? All it does is worsen the experience for the end user. Also what about browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete?

Regarding the unifiedcomplete, read here for a patch: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1136474

Or read here for lots of people who are angry about the change: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/4vv2qt/ff48_disabling_browserurlbarunifiedcomplete_no/
