After a Firefox crash both it and Thunderbird show no title bar - how can I get it back?

more options

The Firefox crash was a "not responding" error when all I had done was try to switch tabs. I could not get out of the program using Taskbar or Alt Tab and CtrlAltDel got nowhere so having given it time I just had to press the power switch. Since then most programs seem to be working as before but both Firefox and Thunderbird are running slow and without title bars. I can't find how to get them back. I hope you can help

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

I see you updated the flash player. Did you also update Firefox to v50? Any reports using v50?

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:

  • see if there are updates for your graphics drivers

https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

https://forums.adobe.com/message/4468493#TemporaryWorkaround

  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

I;m really sorry but I am afraid I don't understand all this and it will take me far too long too sort. Thanks for trying and I will save the advice and call my local teckie to see what he can do to get everything - I suspect the problem goes beyond Mozilla - working as it should. Thanks to all for a great pair of products
