Firefox did an update on my Windows XP, it never installed, just the hour glass just kept going. I did a cold shut down. Now computer gets to the Windows XP logo then restarts. Same thing in all modes, safe mode etc. I am very upset about this. If this is a problem, then you should warn the user before you just do an update

It sounds like your computer has other issues, a Firefox update can never cause a windows computer to not start.

I'd suggest seeing if the computer can open in Windows Safe mode.

Like posted above, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen or hold down the Shift key) to see if that works.

You can also try to ask advice at a Windows oriented forum.
