If you have an imap mail account then you may need to subscribe to see folders on server. right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe'. Choose folders and click on 'subscribe' click on OK

If you have a pop mail account, then either create new existing mail account and this time select 'imap' OR logon to webmail account via browser. Move emails from one folder into 'Inbox' In Thunderbird download emails - click on 'Get Messages' Create a suitably named folder. Move emails from Inbox into that folder. Repeat this to get emails from different folders into Thunderbird.

Once done, all future emails arriving in server Inbox will get downloaded into Thunderbird pop mail account Inbox.
