Can I disable the "news and interests" in bing home page

I am obviously running the latest version of FF but I use bing as my homepage. I HATE the annoying "news and interests" pics that pop up at bottom of page. You can turn them off while using the search engine, but they come back every time you start a new page. Is there a way to permanently disable these news pop ups...?

I don't know whether this will "stick" but please give it a try:

  • In the left column, click Homepage, or scroll down to that section.
  • Uncheck the News and Interests checkbox, then click the Save button.

I assume this setting is saved in a cookie, so if you clear cookies frequently, you may need to do this regularly.

Well sir, good try but nothing changed. I turned FF cookies to "when they expire" to see if that did anything...nope. Any other thoughts...? the strange thing is, if I open IE11, this feature does NOT show up...??!!

If you go back into Bing Settings after that bar shows up, is it still unchecked or did it get checked again? I don't know where else you can control it.

Certainly using an add-on you can hide it from yourself, even if Microsoft loads it into the page. For example, some ad blocking add-ons like uBlock Origin have a feature that lets you hide parts of pages (even parts that are not ads). I haven't used it myself.

Actually I we've solved it...! I guess maybe I hadn't completely logged out of all my sessions and the "cookies" thing hadn't taken effect yet, as the page (bing home) is news free now...!! If it returns I will try your suggestion for uBlock.

Thanks a bunch, much appreciated,
