After I close Firefox it stays active in my processes. To re-open I have to go and end the process. Is there a way to fix this.
Each time I close Firefox I encounter the same problem: the program stays open in my processes listing. I have to do a Control-Alt-Delete to enter the task manager and shut it down. Sometimes there are three or more programs running. I love Firefox but this is an ongoing issue. I would like to fix it rather than stop using the program. Is this a common problem? Are there any solutions?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.
- "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
- Windows: File -> Exit
- Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
- Linux: File -> Quit
