How can I get rid of the warning message "A web page is slowing down your browser"? It pops up constantly.

After upgrading to Firefox 57, I constantly get this message in a yellow bar on many tabs, especially Gmail, which I use all the time. How can I disable this nagging message? Alternatively, how can I increase the length of time that Firefox will wait before nagging me? It's making Firefox unusable. BTW, the browser is not unresponsive or sluggish in any way, although that has happened before. It's just nagging me about a problem that I don't see happening, and I want the message to go away, preferably forever.
