Hi Shieldy69

The search engine widget was removed in Firefox 58.

The Firefox for Android team have implemented an Android Assist app in Firefox 59 beta for Android (long press the home button to invoke a search)

If you want to try it, please check out Firefox beta 59 for Android by searching for "Firefox for Android beta" in the Google Play Store app

Cheers!

So there are no plans to bring back a widget? I loved the screen real-estate savings that I made by having three options in one: open FF, new tab, search.

In terms of the long-press option, will that override the default google search functionality? I ask because I have tried to disable that functionality before and haven't been able to.
