The YouTube player screen size changed mid video yesterday. The size went to almost theater size and comments stopped displaying. I used to have the player on the upper left with a right column of suggested videos for autoplay. Now, the player is full width and the suggested videos are below where comments usually display. This happened once a few months ago but self-corrected quickly. I need to old way back. I tried Chrome and IE, the normal player size, side column of suggestions, and comments still load properly. FF 59.02 64 bit. Win 7 The Theater mode button only makes it bigger. Full screen toggles back and forth properly. The current player width makes it so I cannot see the top and bottom of the video without scrolling.

If there is still a problem, Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Did this help?

While you are in safe mode;

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.

Tried all those tips. No difference.

The layout adapts itself to the space available in the window, which is affected by your choice of bars displayed (e.g., optional title bar, menu bar, bookmarks toolbar) and your zoom level (try holding down Ctrl and tapping the + or - keys to experiment).

I did not changed browser space or any features in a year (since FF 57). I was watching a video and this happened as the video was ending. The layout should/does not change when the player window sizes to fit the screen.

It is like something changed at YouTube that FireFox cannot accommodate.

So you don't have the "responsive" version of the YouTube layout that changes when you zoom in/out? Maybe you are enrolled in one of Google's user interface experiments.

A couple months ago, I saw a post with this URL to revert YouTube to an older layout, but I don't know if it will make any difference on yours:

This time, after I did Ctrl -, it reverted back to the normal layout. Ctrl- did not work previously. Maybe it was locked out.

Maybe it took a combination of the 'disable_polymer' code and Ctrl-

Thanks.
