It's possible that Firefox simply created a second profile. Type about:profiles
to open the window that shows all profiles on your computer. How many profiles do you see?
If you see more than 1, try pressing the Launch profile in new browser button to see if that is the profile with your information in it.
When you find the profile that has the missing information on it, just go back to the profiles window and press the Set as default button so that this profile will be opened each time you open Firefox.
Hope this helps.

Thank you. There is only one profile listed. I have Firefox on my Iphone and as it was synced to my Laptop and account all my bookmarks are on the Iphone. All bookmarks are missing from my laptop as well as tabs and addons. I have no idea what ocurred but my Iphone is asking for a password and slightly concerned if I enter then FF sync will overwrite all my bookmarks as well.
Is there a folder on your desktop that says old Firefox data or something similar?
What exactly are you looking to recover? Are you just looking to recover your bookmarks? If you are just looking for bookmarks, sign in to sync on your desktop and they should be synced back onto your computer.

There is a folder on my desktop with old data. All the files are dated yesterday. I set up FF sync on my laptop and iPhone. My laptop asked me to rest sgnin sync password an now I have no bookmarks Addons or pinned tabs on my laptop. Bookmarks I have on my iPhone through a previous sync but mobile is now asking me to sign in again. I am cautious if I sign in then a sync would delete all bookmarks in total. I would recover any but bookmarks and tabs are important . If I did not know better I would say my laptop has a fresh start and new password wit no saved information when recovering password there is no saved info. Possible tw
Sign in? I do not wan to sign in on iPhone in case I lose all my bookmarks with a laptop sync.
Ok. If you have the old Firefox data folder on your desktop, this is a complete backup of your old Firefox profile. You can recover your old profile from that folder.
Read the Recovering important data from an old profile support documentation.

Thank you for all your assistance.
I have attempted to restore profiles, bookmarks and addons from Old FF folder. Unfortunately the folder has only saved the most recent information and holds no information from FF prior to FF upgrading. The only place I have my bookmarks is my iphone as it contains a sync before the FF upgrade. losing the bookmarks would be terrible as I have a habit of storing all work information in bookmarks. I have not resigned into FF on my mobile as I assume it will sync with my laptop which has not information. I need to recover at least my bookmarks if you can advise. Passwords,Addons and Pinned tabs plus bookmarks have all disappeared from my laptop. I have no idea why and the Old FF data folder has two individual folders which i have attempted to recover without success.
I can understand your worry about signing into sync from your iPhone. Have you tried signing in to sync on your desktop? Your information should be saved on the Mozilla sync servers, so it's likely that if you sign in to sync, the information will just be downloaded from the server again to your desktop.

Again thank you. As I understand FF on my laptop requested for a new password. I think... if a new password is issued any information held on the Mozilla servers are wiped clean. So if I sign into FF on my iPhone then a sync would leave nothing on my mobile or laptop
Ok. If you requested a new password, then your data is wiped from the server. However, this should mean that when you log into sync from your iPhone it will send the data to the servers.
However, to be safe, I'd recommend one of these options to backup your data:
- Installed a different internet browser (Safari or something else) on your phone and import your Firefox bookmarks into that browser. This way you can import them back into Firefox from the other browser if they happen to disappear from Firefox.
- Open a new Firefox account with a different email from your iPhone. Then sync your iPhone to the Mozilla servers and then login using your desktop.
