Hello everyone,

A few months ago I opened Firefox and noticed that every website I was visiting was in English (I am French so my preferred language is French by default on most of the websites which allow language settings). I didn't change any setting or delete my history the days before. Websites I used to visit almost every day were in English too. I partially solved the problem and the set language as French in websites settings.

But a few days ago, this issue appeared again. The bug is worse than the first time because now I can't solve it : - Evey time I open YouTube the language is set as English. - I have activated the 2-step verification on my google account and every time I login in YouTube I receive a message on my mobile phone which gives me a verification code even if I check the box "Don't ask again on this computer". - I have an account on a website and I want to stay logged in, but every time I reopen FIrefox I have to reenter my password. I didn't need to do that just a few days ago.

Thanks for reading I hope my explanations are clear and you will be able to help me

The Ubuntu version you use from the repositories comes some languages. You can check that on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

localeService:
available:
0: en-GB;
1: en-ZA;
2: fr;
3: en-US;

I don't know what the best way would be to remove the locales thst you do not want to use and you may have to ask this at the Ubuntu support forum.

Did you check the order of the installed languages?

  • Options/Preferences -> General -> Languages

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.

Thank you. Now I think I have found where the problem is. I can't solve it though... Here are a part of my troubleshooting informations :

Asked languages ["fr-FR","en-US"] Available languages ["en-GB","en-ZA","fr","en-US"] [...] Language by default "en-US" - Operating system : System languages ["fr-FR"]

As my default language is English, I have tried to go to Options/Preferences -> General -> Languages to change that :

[fr] [fr-fr] [en-us] [en]

French is the fist one in the list and it's available in Firefox, so I think I don't need to download it again, right ? Does the problem comes from a bad setting ?
