Whenever I go to my home page (which is blank) I get a popup strip at the bottom from Mozilla, either tips of advertising. I HATE this, I hate any distractions of this sort. How can I stop it? I couldn't find anything in settings. I don't want to block all popups as I need them from banks etc.

hi, there's a gear icon on the top right of the new tab page - you can click that in order to adjust the contents of that page and disable snippets (from your description at least, i suspect you were referring to them).
