I'm using "Custom Settings" in FF61.0.1, and it seems its still logging on between pages on Disqus : torrentfreak.com, but the "Login" button is displayed. When I click it, a popup temporary displays, then disappears, and i'm automatically logged in

This never happened on 56.0.2 of FF..

What's going on? Has this got something to to with "Accept third-party cookies & site data" ..? I've got mine set to "Never"

That's could be the case there. If you don't register cookies you will loose login options as well. Also if you have login problem you need to contact the site your using what is also happening as well.
