I have to disable many options and features in Firefox ESR, i play with the about:config and file.cfg. But I didn't find how to lock or disallow the installation of tiers/external plugin like Adobe Shockwave, with an execution with an install.exe on Windows.

Thank's a lot.

Thanks guys but i found a solution here : https://superuser.com/questions/168354/how-can-i-block-new-plugins-from-installing-on-mozilla-browsers-to-prevent-inst

I use this section : you can try setting plugin.scan.plid.all to false in about:config. This disables firefox registry-based scanning for new plugins

It was for Firefox ESR 60.2.0, on Windows 7 and 10.

have nice day!

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

The Flash Player is a plugin. You can disable it by; Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open the Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

On the left side of the page, select Plugins. Find Shockwave Flash, and select Never Activate

You could also remove the player using these links; http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html Uninstall Flash Player | Windows http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

That was very good work. Well done.

That only prevents Firefox from finding the Flash plugin via a registry scan. There are more locations that Firefox scans for plugins.

Did you verify that you aren't able to install the Shockwave Flash plugin by creating a plugins folder in the location that Firefox uses for the main profile and copying the plugin file (NPSWF64_##_0_0_xxx.dll) to this plugins folder?

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\plugins\

When I try to install the FlashPlayer plugin, the install path is : C:\Windows\System32\Macromedia\... There is nothing in %AppData%\Mozilla\Plugins.

So that why I use the "stop scan" of registry key.

Quote: There is nothing in %AppData%\Mozilla\Plugins.

This folder isn't there by default, but can be created as a secondary folder to install a plugin like Flash for a specific user.
