Change search bar on-click behavior

How do I change the behavior of the searchbar (the one next to the url-bar) so that one click selects all the text.

Similar to what is described here for the url-bar: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1128139

Sorry, there isn't pref for the searchbar that relates to the one that you cited for the urlbar.

How about using the contextual menu for the Search Bar?

Right-click and select Undo to clear everything that is currently typed in the Search Bar. Works for me on Windows 7, probably the same for Linux.

Strange that you mention that.

Because I only notice this because I recently switch to linux.

In Windows 7 one click highlights so whole field. So I only clicked and stated to type my "NewSearchRequest". On Linux I now constantly search for things like "OldSeaNewSearchRequestrchRequest".

The problem is not deleting the old request, more the inconvenience of changing a habit.
