I want Thunderbird to save copies to the local drive, separate from my email hosting service.

When I delete the folder on the server, all my mail dissapears ( IMAP ). If I put the folder back, all my mail re-appears.

Why is thunderbird not saving the email to the archive folders I have set, to the local computer independent from my server online??

.........to clarify, I have it archived and set to archive on the IMAP server.

Do I have to drag/drop it to a local folder to keep it?

Will that copy it, or move it ?
