Firefox hangs when Chrome is opened (Linux)

more options

If I open Chrome when using Firefox, Firefox displays a 'waiting' icon for about 60 seconds, on every opened tab. A lot of processes called 'Web Content' start to use all CPU and fan spins. System returns to normal state after 60 seconds. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 (xfce) and Firefox 70.0 (64-bit)

Thanks d3von, yes I also thought is was a RAM issue but I'm not sure since I have 4GB RAM. I checked again today and the issue didn't happen this time. The fan did indeed spin loud, but FF didn't hang. Will post again if the issue reappears.

OK, the issue is still occurring. It also happens when I open Slack and also if I open Authy (a Chrome app)

1. I usually browse with multiple tabs open and suddenly the mouse and keyboard freeze and and I am forced to restart with the power button. None of the shortcuts work once the system hangs.

  2. This happens almost every time I use the system.
