Can we opt out of the new New Tab button?
I don't like the new New Tab button because when you click on it, it overrides the tab you're on unless you remember to right-click it so it can open as a new tab next to the one you're on. It is also too close to the back arrow button. Is there a way to disable the New Tab button?

I don't know why the button installed itself when 70.0.1 installed, but I figured out how to get rid of it, by right clicking it to get this screen (see screenshot below) and then clicking on Delete.

Looks that you had bookmarked the new tab page as this appears to be a bookmark on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Thanks. I appreciate your input, but I can't imagine that I would add New Tab to my toolbar, though it's something I might have done by accident. But I really think It is something that Firefox did by itself when it installed 70.0.1. Thankfully, I did figure out how to delete it, as mentioned above.
Firefox doesn't create new bookmarks by itself and especially not such a useless new tab bookmark. The screenshot clearly shows the context menu of a bookmark and the position on the screen leads to the Bookmarks Toolbar just below the Navigation Toolbar. It's good that you find how to remove this unwanted bookmark.
Thanks very much.
