Hi, that seems strange. Did the icons just appear on your desktop suddenly today, or did the icons just change to Firefox icons suddenly today?
If you haven't already, you might do a regular shutdown and restart of your system in case it's a transient glitch.
You may see Firefox icons for
- Firefox program shortcut
- Firefox URL shortcut (little icon in a white "page" on my system)
- .html document (little icon in a black "page" on my system)
You shouldn't see Firefox icons for other programs/files, unless perhaps they have been assigned to open in Firefox somehow.
If you check some of the icons, can you find a pattern, for example, are they saved web pages, or PDFs, or something else?
Malwarebytes quit working, could not re-install or remove the program. I had a system restore point that was only 3 days old, hit restore and everything was working, including Malwarebytes. But now half of my desktop icons turned to Firefox icons. They DO open the correct program they just have the wrong icon picture.
Maybe the icons cache got corrupted. It's a little beyond the scope of this forum, but maybe one of the results in this search will help:

If you try this using explorer it says it can't because files are being used by explorer. So I used Task Manager and killed explorer and tried CMD prompt as administrator. It will delete all icon*.db's except iconcache_16,32 and 48.db. And it will not delete iconcache_idx.db. Comes back with access denied on all 4 files.
