old chat and survey windows open when browser starts

more options

Occasionally after I have participated in a survey or used a chat window, that temporary window will continue to open each time the browser starts. These windows remain after the browser is closed and must be closed separately. I've checked for add-ons and only the two I need are shown.

The latest chat window opens twice! It is from my ISP after a support session yesterday. i can't really block that website, since chat is the only way to get service from the ISP. What causes this annoying problem and how do I stop it?

Hi let98007, Firefox's session restore feature usually restores all the windows that were open at the time you exited out of Firefox. However, the session history file that stores window status (open vs. closed) isn't updated instantly, it may take as long as 15 seconds. If you already are allowing that much time between closing the unwanted windows and exiting out of Firefox, perhaps the file updates are getting delayed by something else.

By the way, the keyboard shortcut to close the current tab, Ctrl+w, should also work to close popup windows, if you don't see any other way to close them.
