Hi,

Images are not displayed in emails. The emails are showing at all. If I do a print preview, the images are showing in a box where the images should be. I can not see the images/pictures in the email. I have 4 email accounts, and the same email was sent to all of the email accounts. I can not see the images from the same email with any of my other email accounts. I can see the images in my email on other computers (XP & Windows 10), that have the same Thunderbird setup, and same email accounts as the first computer. I am wondering if it is a memory or cache issue or another issue, because on other computers I have the same setup, and I can see the images from this same email, in all of the email accounts.

Why can't a I see the images on one computer, and I can on the others? How do I clear the cache on Thunderbird? I have cleared it on Firefox, does Thunderbird have it's own Cache? Is there another reason why one computer is not displaying the images at all, and the others are displaying the images/pictures?

T 1) My Thunderbird is setup for all computers: A) Browse to View -> Display Attachments B) Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Original HTML

2) Email: Upper right hand corner: "Always Load Remote Content" - I clicked "Show Remote Content"

3) POP Email accounts

4) The computer that is not displaying the images is a Windows 10 Laptop

5) Other computers loading images are just fine for same email with Thunderbird, so it isn't an issue of the server: I have 2 other computers, one an XP, and the other is an Windows 10 laptop. Both have the same Thunderbird setup as the problematic computer, and they are showing the images just fine. The other computers have the same McAfee virus protection also.

6) I do not think it is an email sync problem, because I have the same email with the Images going to 4 different email accounts, all of the email accounts on the first computer can not see the images, so, Thunderbird seems to be blocking the images for all accounts on the first computer. The other computers can see the email with the images in all of the email accounts.

I appreciate all help, thank you for your assistance.

what about anti virus... is it the same? My guess is it will be blocking the images.

Hi!

Thank you for getting back to me. All of the machines have the exact same anti-virus software, and all machines are set up the same way.

I just looked at previous emails from the same sender, with images, and all of the images have been stripped. This is happening in all of my email accounts. I think that this Thunderbird on this computer has a setting not to allow images from this sender. I might have accidently hit something, I don't know. I went looking through Thunderbird, and I can't find the place where a setting would be to not allow Remote Content for these emails, permanently.

When I click on old, unread, emails from this sender, I am not even prompted to 'Show Remote Content' any more.

I have been having issues with a Chrome Script that keeps popping up and slowing things down. I tell the prompt to stop the script, could that have something to do with it?

How do I reset Thunderbird to allow Remove Content from this sender?

I have never set up any junk or spam filters on any of my email accounts, or in Thunderbird.

Does the new version of Thunderbird have a security measure that might be doing the stripping?

I have done these steps, and still the images are blocked from this sender on this machine:

I thought that maybe it is a space issue? I tried to empty the cache on Thunderbird, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I emptied the cache on Firefox, and cleared all Firefox data and cookies. I then compacted the folders in Thunderbird, and I rebooted the computer. But, I still can not see the images.

How else can I clear the cache/empty old stuff in Thunderbird?

I then thought maybe I could tell Thunderbird to reload the message, with remote data, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Is there an option to reload a message? Is there an option to reload Remote Data?

I tried to 'edit the message as new' and the email message comes up, now with the boxes where the images should be. But still no images.

So, here are my questions: 1) How do I find out if I hit a setting that is permanently blocking images from a sender to all of the email accounts on my Thunderbird? 2) How do I force a reload of Remote Content for emails? 3) How do I clear the cache? 4) How do I stop this chrome script? 5) Does the new thunderbird have some security settings that need to be adjusted to allow images? 6) Other emails are prompting me: Always load remote content from... How do I get Thunderbird to do that for this sender that it is currently blocking the images?

thanks so much!

always allow scripts to continue in Thunderbird. clicking stop is an almost sure fire way t seeing things stop working.

So restart Thunderbird continue the script and see if that makes any sort of change.

Otherwise try the following:

  • Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.
  • Restart the operating system in safe mode with Networking. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, OSX
If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.
