Hi folks,

Firefox updated automatically to 79 (Android) and does not start with my start page any more. How can I set my start page again. Didn't find anything in the settings.

Thanks for any comment or help, Bernd

Hi

It is currently not possible to set a custom home page in Firefox for Android, but this is something that may be looked at again in a future update.

Hello Seburo,

thanks for the sad answer. The fact per se is incredible bad. Can I install the old version and prevent an automatic update like this?

Thanks again for the help!

Bernd

hi bernd, what you could do in this case is to add a shortcut to the page you want to open on start to your phone's home screen (in the three-dot-menu in firefox while you are browsing this site).

Hello philipp,

thanx, I'll try that. Unfortunately I cannot affect the icon that is shown on the home screen. I'll write about my tests here soon.

I miss my home page and certainly don't like having to pick it in the saved icons. You had a good thing going and I chose Firefox on my mobile rather than Chrome. Now is all messed up. Give us back our home pages!

I think I'm done with Firefox. I liked mine setup with my bookmarks list as a homepage, and now even this has been removed. Now I'm prompted to setup some sort of collections. What collections? All I want is a simple bookmark list when I open the browser.

Why do you guys keep trying to re-invent the wheel, and F**k it up every time?

I don't mind even if I have to pay for a browser app, as long as it stays the way I set it, instead of messing things up after every unsolicited update.

I would like to add my voice to group that is stating they do not like the new setup.

I agree. The updaters of Firefox should find out what users like about it before deleting those features. Updates should fix problems and/or add useful features. They are only pissing off those users that praise Firefox. Just a thought. No disrespect towards Mozilla.

I have this issue as well. I don't like having to click on the tabs button to view my last page I was on. I am used to opening Firefox and it being right there rather than the USELESS screen that has icons to sites I very rarely visit. PLEASE, at least give us a choice as to what we see as our startup screen.

I've been test driving Opera. It's a simple, straight-forward, no BS browser that seems to do everything that I want.

A must have. I have a hard time to understand why this feature needs a debate. Do Firefox devs use Firefox ???

Édit. Thanks for the reminder byacey. Now using Opera. As you say, straight forward. Only good surprises. Adopted :)
